January 2006: NewsWe had such a great staff party to wrap up 2005, we thought we'd post some photos this month so everyone can see who keeps Canada Disc & Tape, DVD Masters and audiomastering.com running so smoothly for year long (well, except maybe for the morning after the party). ![]() The theme this time around was "Motown Magic" and we were fortunate to have not one, not two but three great acts perform for our staff and their guests! Toshi Jackson & The Silhouettes wasted no time getting the audience involved with their Supremes Tribute and Grammy winner Donald Ray Johnson rocked the house backed by the Clear Image Band. ![]() Lead vocalist for the Clear Image Band, Jen Garces belted out the hits backed by Barry Campenali on keyboards, Paul Chin on drums, Steve Williams on sax and, of course, the charismatic band leader Kirby "Chop Chop" Small on guitar and vocals. Between them all, we heard just about every Motown hit ever written! We'd also like to acknowledge the other members of Toshi Jackson & The Silhouettes: Erika Griffiths and Melissa Jarvis for their contribution to a memorable evening. And, special thanks goes out to Miles Jackson who pitched in on the audio setup at the last minute and then went on to do a guest set on the keyboards. After our amazing Beatles themed party which was held a couple of years ago at the now legendary "Diner Deluxe" we thought it would be a tough act to follow (and that act was "Rubber Soul"). However, fate smiled down upon us and, once again, we found the perfect entertainers and the perfect venue. The party was held at McQueen's (upstairs of Cannery Row in downtown Calgary) and we have to give them a plug here because the staff, food and service were all fantastic!
