May 2006: News![]() Last May we announced that our DVD duplication was being upgraded to Dual Layer - once again putting us on the leading edge of new format offerings. Dual Layer DVD-Rs can hold 8.5 Gigabytes of information just like a replicated DVD-9. This year, we are introducing the DualDisc format which is a different product altogether! As the name suggests, the DualDisc is actually two discs - a CD and DVD bonded together to form a single disc that will play in both CD and DVD players. The CD side can hold up to 60 minutes of audio and the DVD side can hold up to 4.7 Gigabytes of information (commonly called a DVD-5). Since the DVD side can hold enhanced audio (e.g. 5.1 surround sound in Dolby or DTS), recording artists looking to release a unique and all encompassing version of their album can use DualDisc to provide mixes in virtually all formats. This includes DVD Audio which can also contain photos of the artist and videos. This format is currently being supported by the following major labels: Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Universal Media Group, 5.1 Entertainment Group/Silverline Records, Warner Music Group and EMI. We are extremely pleased that we can now offer it to our clients in the independent music community.
